Eastern Sierra News
Law enforcement officers were out in force Thursday after a man allegedly brandished a firearm at a DWP employee near the Bishop Canal off West Line St. in Bishop.
Inyo Sheriff Detective Jeff Hollowell reports that a DWP employee called the Sheriff’s Department at about 9:20 Thursday morning to report that he had been approached by a man with a gun. The DWP employee was reportedly checking on the canal when the subject with the gun chased him off.
Sheriff Officers, CHP Officers, and Bishop Police Officers set up a perimeter in the area of the canal just south of West Line Street. Officers say that they eventually found the man, identified as 47-year-old Lane Hollis. Hollowell reports that the Officers searched a campsite believed to belong to Hollis and eventually contacted the man. Officers say that Hollis was arrested without further incident and booked on assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a firearm, public intoxication and violation of probation. Bail was set at $25,000.
At last word, Sheriff Investigators had not found the firearm and are requesting any information from people that may have been in the area at the time. If you have information that might help, call the Inyo Sheriff’s Department at 873-7887.

Got us on days of the week! Our only excuse is that we write for three media - TV, radio and web. They are all performed at different times and, darn it, sometimes (rarely) we forgot what day we're functioning in.
Yes, he was nabbed on a probation violation, and officers did not indicate to us that the man was arrested on his bike in town. We'll check it out.

He was on probation, not parole, we discovered, but you're probably right about the firearm in either case.
